Who are the Cyrenes

We are the Cyrenes, an a cappella choir of women who sing ‘for the love of it'.  We are a non-auditioned 
choir and will welcome you no matter your musical ability or singing experience.

Founded in 1989, the Cyrenes was one of the first women's community choirs in Canberra. The Cyrenes aim to create a safe, supportive and fun environment where women connect with each other through music.  Our underlying philosophy is that singing is part of the joy and well-being of life; that everyone can sing, and has something to contribute. We sing songs about women's issues, social justice, human rights, environmental concerns, songs from many cultures, and some just for fun!
